Do not mix the figures for these programmes. The two-year MBA, MBAEx, PGDBA and PGPEX-VLM serve different groups of students and have different tests, fees and placement reports.

IIM Calcutta Two-Year MBA

The flagship MBA runs for two years and is a full-time residential course. Core subjects are taught in the first year. After the summer internship, students get more choice through electives, projects and term papers. This gives them time to understand several business areas before choosing a direction.

Application is open to both fresh graduates and job professionals. Work experience is not compulsory for the regular MBA, although eligible full-time experience may earn points at the final selection stage under the policy used for that year.

IIM Calcutta MBA Eligibility 2027

The final rules for the 2027–29 batch will appear in the CAT 2026 admission policy. Under the latest published policy, applicants need to meet these basic conditions:

• A bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
• Applicants from SC, ST and PwD backgrounds need at least 45% marks or equal CGPA.
• Students in the final year of graduation can apply, but they must submit the required proof by the deadline stated for their batch.
• Indian applicants must take the CAT used for that admission year and meet the required sectional and overall cutoffs.

Step 1: Take CAT 2026

The latest policy gave academic-diversity points to several non-engineering degrees and professional qualifications. It also gave up to eight points for eligible full-time paid work completed after graduation. Internships, articleship, unpaid work and course-based training were not counted as regular work experience.

The total IIM Calcutta MBA fee for recent batches is widely listed at around Rs 27 lakh for two years. The institute may revise the amount for the 2027–29 batch, so use the admission offer and joining notice as the final source before paying or applying for a loan.

IIM Calcutta Placements 2026

The official placement page lists the 61st MBA batch, the Class of 2026, as the latest final-placement cycle. Reports based on the institute’s announcement state that all 458 participating students were placed. They received 542 offers from 202 firms, including 61 first-time recruiters. The reported average CTC was Rs 36 lakh a year and the median was Rs 35 lakh.

The highest domestic offer was reported at roughly Rs 1.45 crore to Rs 1.5 crore, while the highest international offer was Rs 1.1 crore. Such top offers attract attention, but they represent only a few roles. The median salary, number of recruiters and spread of jobs tell you more about the batch as a whole.

Consulting led the hiring with 206 offers. Financial institutions made close to 100 offers. Marketing and general management together accounted for 161 offers, while technology firms made 72 offers. This mix shows that IIM Calcutta offers more than finance roles alone.
